Earth Day Festival

At the World's Fair Pavilion

Opening Ceremony–10:30 am    An interfaith celebration of water.

Highlights
Over 80 booths, fun, food, and educational activities.
Visit the Water Exploration Tent (WET) with live animals & dozens of hands-on aquatic activities for kids.
Hear Native American storytelling and view World Bird Sanctuary Shows sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Try your hand at petting sharks from the St. Louis Children's Aquarium.
See the EarthLinks Art Bus painting in progress.
Take home one of 10,000 FREE trees given away by the Mo. Dept. of Conservation.
Walk the Earth Labyrinth.
Enter a 425 square foot, 16 ft. tall nature dome, the "Native Experience".

Be earth friendly –ride your bike or take public transportation to the park. Or, park in the Upper Muny Parking lot. The Bi-State Shuttle Bug will run a free shuttle service every 15 minutes to the World's Fair Pavilion.

Mini Boat Regatta

1 - 2 pm. Make a mini boat from recycled materials and bring it to the festival. Prizes for all, celebrity judges. Call UMSL, 314-516-6826 or St. Louis Teacher's Recycle Center, 636-227-7075, for an entry form and free materials. Additional prizes in different age groups for the following categories:

  Best use of scientific thinking
  Most interesting use of recycled materials
  Most artistic boat
  Silliest boat
  Tallest boat

All Species Parade
2 - 3 pm. Joia leads the 12th annual parade through the heart of the Saint Louis Zoo and back to the pavilion. Call the Zoo, 314-768-5466 to register and receive a parade packet with costume ideas and coupon for free materials from Leftovers, etc.

Forest Park Operation Clean Stream
9 am - 1 pm. Meet at Muny Lower Parking Lot. Clean-up project highlights the restoration of the park's urban stream system, "The River Returns". Free coffee, donuts and trash bags for registered volunteers. Register with Operation Clean Stream, 636-225-6605.

Mask-Making Workshop
12 noon-2 pm. Make your own animal mask, then board the new Forest Park Bug Bus Shuttle and join the parade!

"Out on a Limb"Performance
3-4 pm. Storyteller Chris Limber weaves magical songs and stories as he teaches the value of conservation and recycling from an historic perspective. 314-454-3135.
